The Next Chapter

by Janet August 6, 2018 4 Comments

I have resigned from my job as it had become too much to allow for a work life balance, and the stress was high. Stress in general is not good especially for the IVF process, and we have an egg retrieval coming up. If you have been following our blog, then you know that this decision was a long time in the making, and we have drawn a line in terms of what we will allow to stand in the way of having a child.

So what’s on the agenda now? To rest, relax, and live a balanced life. On the medical side, the cyst is still around but appears it’s becoming a non functional cyst. The doctor has stopped the birth control and will monitor me on no hormones. I should have a check up this week and we are hopeful it will show all the potential eggs to be in sync (meaning the same size at this point in time). If all is good, we will introduce hormones so the eggs can grow into a mature size and we can retrieve as many eggs as possible. We are crossing our fingers we can do this by end of month and have a good egg count. The egg retrieval process could take about 5 weeks from injections to egg retrieval procedure and finally embryo testing.

I am ready to be in a better place both mentally and physically, and plan on taking a few months off before I start looking for another job. It was really hard for me to walk away, but this is the best thing for our family. You have one life, and it’s too short to work so many hours while being under so much stress.

Thank you to all for your support, it’s been very positive and uplifting. It means so much.
